Colonel O'de Almeida, Ms - Brazil

Colonel Jorge Luiz O'de Almeida Filho, of the Brazilian Army, was born in Pires do Rio/GO, Brazil. He holds a degree in Military Sciences from the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN), Resende/RJ (Brazil) and in Physical Education from the Army Physical Education School, in Rio de Janeiro/RJ (Brazil). He graduated in Business Administration from the University of Southern Santa Catarina, Tubarão/SC (Brazil). He earned a Master of Science in Defense and Inter-American Security, by the Inter-American Defense College, Washington D.C., in which he graduated with distinction. He holds a Master's Degree in Military Operations from the Army Capitan’s School and a Master's Degree in Military Sciences from the Army Command and General Staff School, both in Rio de Janeiro/RJ (Brazil).

Colonel O' de Almeida is a faculty professor at the Inter-American Defense College. The main academic courses developed and taught at CID include:

Committee I: World Situation Conference (WSC) and Geopolitical Assessment of the World Regions; Committee II: Western Hemisphere Situation Conference (WHSC) and Forecasting of Sub-Regional Security, Defense, and Development; Seminar - Complex Emergencies and Large Scale Disasters

Colonel O 'de Almeida was instructor of the AMAN Engineering Course and instructor of the Brazilian Army School of Command and General Staff.

He has twice joined UN peacekeepers, in Angola as Engineering platoon commander and in Haiti as deputy chief of the Military Engineering Section of the mission staff. He commanded the Command Company of the 1st Engineering Group (João Pessoa/PB) and the 1st Combat Engineering Battalion (School), in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, Brazil.

He received the following decorations: Order of Military Merit, knight degree; Gold Medal (30 years of service); Caxias “the Peacemaker” Medal; Santos Dumont Merit Medal; Golden Command's Badge; UN Medal - MINUSTAH (Haiti); UN Medal - UNAVEM III (Angola); Victory Medal; Osório "The Legendary" Medal and Corps of Troop Medal .
