In commemorating the IADC’s 60th anniversary, the college has released a book on strategic leadership in the Americas. Until today there has never been a book that addresses leadership from a hemispheric perspective. Considering leadership from a hemispheric perspective will enrich any leader who faces complex international problems that require multilateralism to solve.

This book includes observations, insights and lessons learned by distinguished alumni who have achieved significant leadership positions within their countries, through written articles about strategic leadership and complex problem-solving. This is not limited to perspectives on the leadership of just one country. It contains perspectives on leadership from leaders of several countries who all work in the security, defense, and public service sectors.

Reading this book and applying the principles contained therein will improve leadership. This book on leadership is the Inter-American Defense College and their Alumni’s gift to the hemisphere. May our next 60 years be every bit as productive as these past 60 years.
