Sixty years ago today, on the 11th of April, 1962, the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States met in the Hall of the Americas and passed the resolution that created the Inter-American Defense College.
Our first class on Continental Defense was composed of 29 students from 15 countries and started at the height of the Cold War. Today our focus is Inter-American Defense and Security and our graduates enable multinational inter-agency collaboration to address the threats of the 21st Century.
May our next 60 years be ones of collaboration, peace, and prosperity!
