Yesterday, Class 62 of the Inter-American Defense College received an inspirational visit from the 32nd Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Michael Gilday. This is the first visit of a Chief of Naval Operations in the history of the Inter-American Defense College. During Admiral Gilday’s presentation to Class 62, he presented an emerging initiative of the U.S. Navy to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase maritime domain awareness and AI cooperation with allies and partners in securing maritime trade routes across the globe, which played perfectly into the theme of cyber security that Class 62 is currently investigating. He also discussed the Priorities of the U.S. Navy in the Western Hemisphere and the importance of Allies and Partners in the Western Hemisphere to counter malign influences that impact the security and economies of the Western Hemisphere nations.
