BIOGRAPHY
Colonel Claudio Duarte Faria
Brazilian Air Force (FAB) officer with over 35 years of service, currently retired. He
joined the Armed Forces in 1990 and holds a degree in Aeronautical Sciences from
the Brazilian Air Force Academy (1996). He has logged over 3,700 flight hours in
transport and air defense aircraft. He participated in international exercises such as
Maple Flag (Canada) and Air Mobility Guardian (USA), as well as in the search
operation for the missing Air France 447 flight, which he helped locate. He also took
part in humanitarian missions in Haiti and Chile (earthquakes and wildfires). He was
part of the EMBRAER KC-390 development team and the planning team for
CRUZEX FLIGHT, the largest air exercise in Latin America. He served in the UN
peacekeeping mission in Haiti and commanded an Air Squadron. At the Brazilian Air
Force General Staff, he contributed to strategic defense projects and institutional
restructuring processes, including the establishment of the Air Force Cyber Defense
Center, and worked on the F-39 Gripen New Generation and EMBRAER KC-390
programs. He served on academic boards at the Brazilian Air Force University and
the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA). He graduated with Academic
Distinction from the Inter-American Defense College (IADC), where he was later
appointed as Chief of Seminar Leaders and Mentors for Class 63. In 2025, he was
nominated for the PhD program in International Security at the Gutiérrez Mellado
University Institute in Madrid, Spain. He currently serves as President of the IADC
Alumni Chapter in Brazil.
