The Inter-American Defense College welcomed U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Francis L. Donovan, commander of U.S. Southern Command, for an official visit at Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, D.C., June 26, 2026.
Gen. Donovan, joined by Dr. Sandra Hobson and members of the SOUTHCOM team, met with IADC leadership and received an overview of the college’s mission, academic programs, and contributions to hemispheric defense and security.
The visit brought together members of the SOUTHCOM, William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies and IADC teams for discussions focused on professional military education, academic collaboration and the development of future defense and security leaders across the hemisphere.
