On Sept. 11, the Inter-American Defense College community came together at Fort Lesley J. McNair to honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and recognize the first responders and service members who responded.
Throughout the day, IADC departments participated in a remembrance observance by ringing a bell at the times corresponding with key events of Sept. 11, including the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the collapse of the North and South towers.
The observance concluded with the Office of the Director ringing the final bell in honor of all those who lost their lives.
The remembrance brought IADC students, faculty and staff together to reflect on the events of Sept. 11 and honor those whose lives were forever affected by that day.
